Introduces networking concepts for integrating medical devices, covering protocols, security, PACS and EMR systems. Provides learners with foundational understanding of networking to support and maintain networks that integrate medical devices. It covers both the theory and practical aspects of assembling networks and integrating medical devices with those networks. Suitable for all healthcare technology staff, no prior networking knowledge required.
Course covers relevant safety and organisational requirements, documentation, and legislation, as well as patient confidentiality and data security. Introduces networking equipment such as routers, switches, and DHCP servers, and covers networking protocols such as TCP/IP, wireless networks, and telemetry. Provides instruction and practice for network installation, maintenance, and the integration of medical devices with protocols like HL7, FHIR, and IEEE 11073. Additional topics include Electronic Medical Records (EMR), network security, and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) for medical imaging equipment.
