Course Details
TUnits 5 and 6 may be completed together as a combined three day program, covering both the servicing of ventilatory equipment and anaesthetic equipment.
Because anaesthetic workstations must incorporate a ventilatory device to maintain patient respiration during anaesthesia, the Unit 6: Servicing Anaesthetic Equipment course necessarily includes ventilation principles and the ventilators used within anaesthetic delivery systems. Likewise, Unit 5: Servicing Ventilatory Equipment includes anaesthetic ventilators as a specific ventilator type.
The complementary nature of these units—and the intentional overlap in ventilator content—allows the two standalone twoday courses to be delivered efficiently over three days without compromising the depth, integrity, or learning outcomes of either unit.
Learners will acquire the same knowledge through a blend of elearning, instructorled sessions, and class discussion, and they will receive equivalent handson practice with both ventilatory and anaesthetic equipment as they would if attending Units 5 and 6 separately
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Understand respiratory physiology and ventilation principles.
- Understand anaesthesia principles and anaesthetic equipment design.
- Perform functional testing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis on anaesthetic & ventilation equipment.
- Ensure safe operation of anaesthetic and gas delivery systems in accordance with standards.
- Employ dedicated biomedical test equipment for performance verification.
- Conduct fault diagnosis and routine servicing.
Course duration: 3 days (24 hours) face-to-face with e-learning (≈ 12 hours).
