About The Medical Room
Welcome to THE MEDICAL ROOM
What is The Medical Room?
The Medical Room is a specialised company focused on providing the best Biomedical Technical Recruitment and Training solutions to the Biomedical and Healthcare Industries.
The Medical Room’s Biomedical Technical Training
The Medical Room’s vocational biomedical technical training courses are the only competency-based, practical hands-on training courses available in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. Designed to teach Biomedical Technicians and Engineers both the theory and practice of testing and maintaining medical, dental, sterilisation, and laboratory devices, these courses provide learners with the essential knowledge and skills to support medical devices safely and effectively.
The courses are vendor-neutral, offering practical sessions with a variety of medical device makes and models. This allows learners to understand the clinical application, common features, engineering design, performance verification tests, and basic maintenance requirements for the device range.
Biomedical technical training courses include both e-learning and a practical face-to-face session, with durations ranging from a half-day to 5 days, depending on the course. The Medical Room’s biomedical technical training is currently delivered in stand-alone units that cover both the theoretical and practical learning for specific medical device types or topics. These units are specifically designed to provide learners with the competencies necessary to provide effective and compliant support of medical devices found in hospitals, healthcare centres, dental clinics, and other clinical environments.
Learners will also explore the concept of risk and their role as a professional in minimising the risk to patients, clinical staff, colleagues, and themselves.
Learners will gain an understanding of:
- Health & Safety requirements in clinical and technical environments, and how to support the safe use of medical equipment
- Relevant documentation, legislation and relevant physiology relating to the medical devices
- Clinical application and safe engineering design of medical devices
- Biomedical electrical safety testing to AS/NZS 3551 which is the medical equipment equivalent of Test & Tag Testing of General Electrical Equipment to AS/NZS3760
- Performance verification, basic maintenance and of repair the medical devices in focus: including both the theory and hands-on practical sessions with a variety of the relevant medical devices and dedicated biomedical test equipment.
