Course Details

Covers the relevant documentation, physiology, engineering design, theory of operation, clinical application, performance verification and corrective maintenance requirements of equipment found in the primary care environment:

  • Electrocardiographs (ECG’s) – 12-lead ECGs for diagnostic applications
  • Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s)
  • Non-invasive blood pressure monitoring (NIBP)
  • Pulse oximetry and blood oxygen saturation monitoring (SaO2 / SpO2)
  • Infusion Devices: Infusion pump & Syringe Pump
  • Vaccine & Specimen Fridges
  • Centrifuges
  • Autoclaves & Benchtop Sterilisers

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand device operation and clinical application of relevant equipment.
  • Competently perform performance verification and corrective maintenance of primary care equipment in the field.
  • Apply appropriate Health & Safety, and medical equipment maintenance standards.

Course duration: 3 days (24 hours) face-to-face with e-learning (≈ 12 hours).
